TabToCart

European Accessibility Act · WCAG 2.2 · E-commerce

Know when your e-commerce checkout becomes inaccessible — before your customers do.

TabToCart tests your store's purchase journey with a real browser and a keyboard every day, and alerts you the moment a release breaks it. Automated monitoring for agencies and online retailers — no widget, no overlay.

Free · no signup · the test stops before payment and never places an order.

Example result

  1. Homepage
  2. Product page
  3. Add to cart — keyboard (Enter)
  4. Cart drawer: focus not moved, no dialog role
  5. Checkout button is a <div>: not keyboard operable
  6. Checkout form errors not announced

Illustrative example. Your scan tests your own store.

Checkouts break quietly. The law now expects them to work.

28 June 2025

Date from which the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) applies to e-commerce services in the EU, including identification, security and payment functions. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt.

94%

of the most-visited e-commerce sites audited in five European markets had accessibility barriers along the purchase journey (Contentsquare Foundation, November 2025).

Weekly

is how often a typical store ships theme updates, new apps or checkout tweaks. A one-off audit is outdated after the next release; monitoring is not.

How it works

  1. Scan

Enter a store URL. A real browser opens it and walks the purchase journey with the keyboard: product, add to cart, cart, checkout — stopping before payment.

  2. Baseline

Every issue is recorded with its page type, element, WCAG reference, user impact and a concrete fix. Repeated template issues are grouped.

  3. Monitor

The checkout journey is re-tested daily and key pages weekly. Each result is compared with the previous one to separate new issues from known ones.

  4. Alert & report

You get an email only when something gets worse — a new barrier, a regression, a broken step. Monthly reports go to you and your clients automatically.

Checkout-first. Regression-first. Built for e-commerce.

Keyboard purchase-journey test

We don't just scan pages: we add a product to the cart and reach checkout using only the keyboard, like many disabled shoppers do, and check the cart drawer, checkout button, form labels and error messages. If that breaks, you know.

Regression detection

New issues, fixed issues and issues that came back are tracked per store. A theme update or a new app that breaks accessibility is caught within 24 hours.

A fix list you can forward as-is

Not technical? One click gives you a ready-to-send document for your web developer (English or French): a plain-language summary for you, then every fix with its exact location and code guidance. Or we email it for you.

Prioritised, actionable fixes

Each issue gets a deterministic priority (P1–P4), the affected users, the WCAG criterion and code-level guidance your developers can apply.

Client-ready reports

Monthly HTML and PDF reports with trends, new/resolved issues, checkout and template-level issues — branded with your agency's logo and colours.

Built for agencies

One dashboard for up to 25 client stores, per-client recipients, white-label, and signed webhooks to plug alerts into your own tools.

What we are — and what we are not

Automated tools find many barriers quickly and never get tired of re-testing. They cannot judge everything: the W3C is clear that some WCAG criteria need human evaluation. So we will never tell you your store is “compliant”.

  • Continuous automated monitoring of real purchase journeys
  • Evidence of ongoing effort: history, trends, fixes over time
  • No overlay widget injected into your store
  • No legal certification, no “100% compliant” badge
  • No sales calls — everything is self-service

Frequently asked questions

Does this make my store compliant with the European Accessibility Act?

No tool can do that on its own. We run automated tests and monitor them over time, which catches a large share of common barriers and every regression those tests can see. Some WCAG criteria require human judgement, so automated results are not a legal certification. Use our reports to prioritise fixes and to show continuous effort, alongside periodic manual audits.

How does the checkout test work? Will it place orders?

A real browser opens your store, navigates to a product, adds it to the cart with the keyboard, opens the cart and the checkout information step, and checks how form errors are exposed. It never enters payment details and never clicks a pay or place-order button. The test stops before payment, every time.

Is this an accessibility overlay or widget?

No. We never inject code into your store. Overlays try to patch the page in the visitor's browser; we test the real experience and tell your team what to fix in the source.

What is the Accessibility Health Score?

An internal indicator that summarises the number and severity of issues detected, weighted towards the purchase path. It is designed to show trends and regressions. It is not a WCAG or legal conformance score: 100/100 does not mean your site is accessible or compliant.

Which platforms do you support?

Any public online store. The journey test has specific support for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento / Adobe Commerce, PrestaShop, Shopware and BigCommerce, and uses generic heuristics elsewhere.

What if my checkout has bot protection?

Some checkouts block automated browsers. We report the step as blocked instead of guessing, keep testing everything else, and explain how to allow-list our scanner's user agent.

Can I send reports to my clients under my own brand?

Yes. Agency plans add your logo, colours and name to reports and send them to your clients automatically each month. Agency Pro removes every mention of our product.

Where is data stored?

In the European Union. We store technical results (URLs, rule results, element selectors, screenshots of public pages) — never payment data or your visitors' personal data.
